Cleveland Chiropractic College Kansas City Teaches CBP®
By Joe T. Bowles, DC In February 2001, the Curriculum Committee at Cleveland
Chiropractic College in Kansas City (CCCKC) approved CBP®¨ Technique as
a final trimester elective. The CBP®¨ elective is scheduled to begin in
May 2001. This process started last year when I expressed interest in
teaching this technique and representatives of the academic leadership
of the College requested a proposal and a sample course outline. I
agreed to provide these because CBP®¨ is not only logical but also uses
mechanical engineering in its approach. I have also had a personal
experience with CBP®¨ concerning my own health.
After my request to teach the technique was approved, CBP®¨
Nonprofit provided all the necessary teaching materials including
notebooks of overheads, video tapes, and PowerPoint presentations. CBP®¨
Nonprofit also arranged for the necessary equipment to be transferred to
CCCKC. This included OMNI drop tables, hand-held instruments, and
various traction devices. I have been overwhelmed by the suppliers of
equipment who have more than willingly participated in getting equipment
to CCCKC at no cost. I would once again like to thank the CCC academic
leaders and the Curriculum Committee for the inclusion of CBP®¨ in the
elective curriculum. Special thanks to Rickard J. Thomas BS, DC for his
support and advice during the curriculum approval process.
Dr. Joseph T. Bowles, a 1977 graduate of
CCCKC, has been an associate professor at his alma mater since 1996.
Prior to joining the faculty at CCCKC, he practiced in the states of
Missouri and Louisiana. The first five years of practice consisted of
solo practice in Union, Missouri. The last twelve years of practice he
resided in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and, with long time friend and
business partner, Dr. Edward M. Gavin, developed fifteen satellite
clinics in two different states.
